Girls Soccer Returns to Highland

It has been nearly two years since the last time Highland had a girls soccer game at home. At the game yesterday it was obvious that there was a lot of energy and emotion. Coach Phillie stated before the game to the girls how proud she was of all of them. You girls are staying tough though this crazy year and all of us here at Highland couldn’t be more proud to have our soccer back.
Though the team fell short to Highmark, the team looks to bounce back with another home game Friday against Mount Ogden.
Keep up the good work girls!

New Head Coach for Highland Flag Football!

Highland Junior High is thrilled to announce the hiring of Nykolas Guzman. Guzman is a former student from Highland Junior High, and a Ben Lomond graduate. While attending Ben Lomond, Guzman played a significant role on the football team, as he was a standout quarterback. After graduation, Guzman parlayed his experience as a quarterback into the quarterback coaching position at Ben Lomond. Highland is very fortunate to have Coach Guzman in charge of its football program, as he knows what the expectations are at the high school level.

When asked about his expectations for the Hiker’s football program this year Guzman stated, “My expectations are high for this program. I don’t want the primary focus to be winning or losing. The primary focus is to grow the program, and give these students fundamental skills as they grow as both students and athletes. I accepted this position because I want to have a positive influence on the students and turn a group of students into a team.”

Guzman then stated, “As a first year as a head coach, I want success for our kids just as much as our parents do. I want the students to know that there is something special here at Highland. This is a great opportunity these kids have to prepare themselves for high school football. I’m glad to be a part of this team, now let’s have a great year!”
